Exploring New Techniques
Projection Project: Tasked with creating a sculpture that incorporated a self-made projected image or video. I attempted to create a diorama of a nuclear family living a fake life within a “brick warehouse” with my projector playing the role of the “sky” when an “apocalypse” starts.
Site Specific Installment: For this woodworking project, we were tasked with finding a site on campus and build a sculpture that was integrated/related to the environment. I took my love for video games, specifically Minecraft, and referenced the gravity defying game mechanic, spending weeks cutting, sanding, painting, and gluing over 1,000 1-inch wooden blocks. I then had to make and assemble the “void” block around a real tree on campus.
Metal Sheet Project: For our first metal working project we were given one panel of sheet metal and tasked with creating a hanging sculpture with the limited material.
